Description
The GAYA BARU INDAH is a sailing Phinisi, built the traditional way entirely from Indonesian woods.
While she has room for up to 10 guests for group charters, we typically take 8 guests on our cruises. There are 4 cabins on the GAYA BARU INDA. These provide room for up to 10 guests in two double cabins, one twin cabin and one 4-bed cabin. All cabins have air conditioning and fans. Their hatches and portholes can be opened. 3 shared shower rooms on and under deck provide fresh water showers, shampoo and soap.
Our guests enjoy 3 tasty meals a day at the common wooden dining table as well as plenty of local snacks all day. Our chef serves a balanced mix of Indonesian and International cuisine.
There is plenty of room on deck to find your personal favorite spot. It might be the bowsprit, the foredeck, the sun beds on the main deck or one of the two upper decks. In the daytime we set up awnings to provide shade and protect you and the decks from the hot tropical sun. At night we remove them to get a good look at the stars.
The shaded dive deck has a u-shaped bench with tank holders for 22 scuba tanks with a choice of DIN and Yoke valves, space for gear underneath, hangers for wetsuits and a rinsing tank for your cameras and torches.
On GAYA BARU INDAH we focus on exploring and scuba diving the waters of West Papua. There is an excellent chance to dive with Oceanic Mantas, watch dolphins play in the wake as well as diving along a World War II wreck while sharing the waters with over 1600 species of fish (the highest biodiversity ever recorded), and if you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of a leatherback turtle finding a spot for its nest while relaxing on a beach.

BIG BLUE INDONESIA was founded by a group of diving enthusiasts from Germany, France, Korea and Canada.
We operate the traditional sailing Phinisi KLM GAYA BARU INDAH for liveaboard trips in Indonesia`s Bird`s Head Seascape: Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay in West Papua.
Our cruises last 7 days / 6 nights when we go to Raja Ampat North and 10 days when when we cruise to the south. In Raja Ampat we change our itinerary almost every week, so that divers can book 2 and a half weeks on board and enjoy 2 entirely different journeys.
Our focus is first class diving and providing an unforgettable adventure and experience for our guests.
We are very conservation minded and promote a strict no touch, no take, no break approach to diving.
Our permanent crew is multi lingual and speaks English, German, Korean and Indonesian.

DIVE - EAT - SLEEP AND REPEAT: DIVING RAJA AMPAT & CENDERAWASIH BAY AT IT`S BEST
Raja Amapat is quickly becoming one of the world`s famous dive sites known for its extreme bio diversity. Cenderawasih Bay is not yet as well known as Raja Ampat but that will change quickly as it is becoming more accessable. If you like rays, sharks, intact coral reefs, big schools of fish, nudibranch in a warm tropical sea with small and big islands in between, Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay are the places for you. The best way to explore this archipelago is by liveaboard.
DIVING FROM THE GAYA BARU INDAH
On our 7 day/6 nights trips we typically offer 16 day dives and 2 night dives. On 10 day cruises we typically do 24 dives plus 3 night dives. This itinery may change slightly depending on weather condition and other factors out of our control. We dive in small groups of no more than 4 divers (2 buddy teams) with one guide. We use Nitrox EAN32 on all dives. If you are not certified for the use of Nitrox, we offer the NAUI Nitrox Diver course on board. Please check on the booking form that we will send you.
The maximum dive time is 60 minutes unless you reach 50 bar in your tank first. The maximum diving depth is 30 meters.
Our diving staff gives you a detailed briefing before every dive, then we don our gear, step into the inflatble speed boats and drive to the drop point. The speed boat stays with the dive group and will be there when you ascend to pick you up and take you back to the ship.
WHAT ELSE?
Divers who wish to join us on a cruise are required to have Advanced certification, a minimum of 30 logged dives and should have done their last dive no more than one year ago. The minimum age is 16. Proof of certification is required.
We offer a full range of rental diving gear to our guests. Please let us know what you need when you make a booking. We ask every diver to use a personal dive computer on every dive. It is not safe diving practice to rely on your dive guide for computer information. If you do not own a computer, you are welcome to rent one from us.
We are a conservation minded operation and expect our guests to follow the rules established to dive in the Marine Protected Areas of Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay:
— No gloves and no knives!
— No hunting and collecting!
— Do not touch any marine life with any part of your body or your dive gear!
— Do not touch nor break the coral!
— Stay clear off the bottom whether it is sand, coral or plant life!
— No penetration on wreck dives!
— Photographers who cannot control their buoyancy will be asked to dive without a camera!

The GAYA BARU INDAH has 2 double cabins, 1 twin cabin and 1 four bed cabin for 8 guests. The cabins are air conditioned and have fans, portholes and hatches to open for air flow. Her 3 onboard showers and 2 marine toilets are provided with ample freshwater from our onboard water maker.
