Description
Welcome aboard MV Pindito! With over 25 years experience, the MV Pindito is the pioneer of liveaboard diving in Indonesia. In continuous operation since 1992 the MV Pindito"s crew is unmatched for it"s diving knowledge and experience in Indonesia. The MV Pindito launched operation in the Banda Sea and quickly expanded her routes to include Raja Ampat, Komodo, Ambon, Alor and many places in between.
Lovingly built to the highest standard, by owner Edi Frommenwiler, and meticulously maintained, Pindito continues to set the standard with her thoughtfully laid out floor plan and smooth sailing. Edi Frommenwiler, is recognized as one of today"s best underwater videographers. Edi speaks English, German, and Bahasa Indonesian. The Pindito was built according to Edi"s specifications in 1991-92 and upgraded based on his ideas and plans in 2006 and 2017. He"s not always onboard and the cruise director takes care of the guests. But if he is on board guests are invited to follow and observe Edi during his video dives and can ask Edi to share footage, stories and his vast knowledge of creating underwater video in Indonesia.
If you prefer to be guided during your dive, then please select a group lead by one of the Pindito dive guides. The Pindito"s Indonesian crew of 17 is at work to ensure you a secure and comfortable voyage through Indonesia"s tropical island paradise. The crew includes two chefs and two stewards who will constantly attend to your dining and cabin needs.
The Lounge is the place where everybody meets for meals, shares photos and videos between dives, and socializes. Also you can enjoy a variety of music and new video releases here, and feel free to plug in your laptop, camcorder or dSLR to view your images on our big screen TV. The Pindito also offers an extensive library to learn about the reefs and fishes you"ve seen on dives in our Marine Life Library, or curl up with a book between dives. Novels are available on a "take one/leave one" basis.
Photographers and videographers will love the convenience and functionality of the Pindito"s camera room, located aft of the Lounge on the Main Deck. We built the Camera Room with the needs of modern digital underwater photographers and videographers in mind. Here you will find plenty of storage space, professional-grade work areas, and both 220v and 110v AC charging stations at your disposal. We also offer overflow space for photographers on the spacious tables in the salon (please clear for meals) and on the lounge deck when more space is needed for image-makers.
A satellite phone and Email access is 24h available (an extra fee is charged on board).
In the salon you will also find the large flat panel television and computer center where you can plug into and watch video and stills created during your dives. And be sure to take advantage of the extensive knowledge base of the ship’s onboard photo and video professionals by asking questions should you have them.
Pindito offers special photo charters during which you can cruise with top underwater photographers. Be sure to ask our booking agent about these special photo and video "Focus" weeks. We offer top pros, like Marty Snyderman, who will work with you hands-on to help you perfect your underwater stills.
If making high-definition video underwater is your focus, top European videographer Edi Frommenweiler and American videographer Clay Wiseman offer high definition (Sony HDCam) and even 4K (Red Cam) broadcast-quality professional production seminars aboard Pindito, during which you can create professional quality reels and video productions. Learn about broadcast video production, using tripod stabilization underwater, maintenance and preparation of your video housing, capturing unique marine life behaviors, and editing your video in Final Cut Pro.
Meet and prepare for your upcoming dive on the Pindito‘s Dive Deck. Take a fresh water shower after the dive, trick-out your dive gear, get help from dive staff, and just hang out before and after dives on the sun deck. A Persenning (sun roof) offers shade during the hot day. Sunbeds are available for all guests.
The dive deck offers enough space for all divers. Each guest receives his own box where he can store his dive gear. On the front of the ship are some hangers where you can hang up your wet gear. For cleaning your gear there are 2 big rinse water tanks available. For Photo- and Videographer there is camera only rinse tank.
There is no better place to take a rest and enjoy the view, then from our sun deck. Recently renovated and expanded in June 2017, this is a huge space with sun loungers where you can get some sun, or hide from it, and watch the world go by. This area is especially perfect for watching the beautiful sunrises and sunsets over Indonesia. Another highlight not to be missed, is relaxing under the stars with and unimpeded view of the night sky.
If you want to have special view during the cruise guests have the opportunity to sit on the bow of the ship. Many memorable sun set pictures where made from this outlook.
Dive center
Pindito’s crew is all about safety and service, and with seventeen crewmembers aboard to serve you, you can look forward to diving with the greatest of ease.
In the unlikely event of an emergency, we always carry a first-aid kit, diver’s oxygen, satellite telephone, VHF Radio, two life rafts, E.P.I.R.B. automatic signaling devices, and other important safety equipment. For safety reasons, we permit no dives on the arrival and departure days, and we serve alcoholic beverages only after your diving day is finished.
Since 2011 the Pindito is in possession of the new Nautilus Lifeline System (emergency and rescue system for diver). This is a ultra compact VHF marine voice radio with GPS that can be operated at the waters surface. The Nautilus Lifeline is also a full featured marine VHF radio with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and GPS that is ready to be used as soon as it is charged via it"s USB port. More informations you find here: Nautilus Lifeline System.
